It was super fun! Lots of space, comfy seats that fully recline, free snacks and drinks, and even a nice meal. The service was really nice too. It's definitely worth it if you want to get some work done or have a good sleep, the privacy is great.
How was the food on the train?
They had Yunnan specialties. I ordered a barbecue dish; it wasn't completely vegetarian-friendly, but it was a huge meal and it smelled and tasted great, a little spicy. Michelle had a drink made from local herbs, which she said smelled a little sour and tasted like apple juice at first, then a bit mediciney. They also had soup and a rose cake which was a local specialty.
What was the most memorable part of the journey?
The scenery was incredible. We sped past rice terraces, rural villages, and mountain tunnels. It was so relaxing to just sit and eat and watch the world go by.
