We traveled across China from futuristic Shenzhen to the mountains of the Xizang Autonomous Region, taking the Qinghai–Xizang Railway, the highest railway journey in the world, to Lhasa before continuing to Nyingchi.
In Shenzhen, we experienced driverless taxis, drone food delivery, robot coffee, the DJI flagship store, Huaqiangbei electronics market and some of the most advanced technology we’ve ever seen.
From there, we flew to Xining and boarded the Qinghai–Xizang Railway, crossing the plateau at elevations of around 5,000 metres before arriving in Lhasa. We visited the Potala Palace, explored the city, and then continued to Nyingchi for turquoise lakes, snow-capped mountains and some of the most unexpected landscapes in China.

Claudia and Kaan introduce their first YouTube video as a trip across China. In Shenzhen they get coffee, visit a DJI flagship store and Nantou Ancient Town, then ride in a driverless taxi and order food through an app for pickup at a drone collection station in a park. They see a robot making coffee, eat dim sum, visit the Huaqiangbei Bay Museum and electronics area, Longgang Robot District and a Huawei flagship store. They fly to Xining, eat Xibei cuisine and board the Qinghai–Xizang Railway to Lhasa. The journey takes about 22 hours; the train has sleeper beds, space for luggage and food for purchase. The hosts say they brought snacks because they were unsure about the dining situation, and later eat in the dining car. They describe feeling lightheaded at high altitude and mention oxygen provided on the train. In Lhasa they visit Nanshan Park, see commercial drones at the Lhasa Digital Economic Center and continue by train to Nyingchi. They stay at Nyingchi Valley Hotel, make traditional incense, visit Basum Tso and walk through a traditional village before ending the trip.
