Alina takes us live from Yangshuo, China’s most famous mountain town, in this first part of her adventure. She’s immediately struck by the iconic karst peaks rising from the mist—a landscape that looks like a traditional Chinese painting come to life. Wandering along the winding paths near the Yulong River, she describes the peaceful atmosphere and the way the morning light softens the jagged limestone hills. Locals paddle bamboo rafts, and the scent of fresh rice noodles drifts from roadside stalls. Alina captures the raw beauty of this region without any polish—just real moments of discovery. She climbs to a viewpoint overlooking the town and says, 'This is why I came to China.' The energy is calm, the scenery is breathtaking, and every corner reveals another postcard-perfect scene. It’s a travel experience that feels both ancient and alive, and Alina’s genuine excitement makes you want to book the next flight.

Alina Mcleod navigates the vibrant chaos of Yangshuo's West Street during China's Tomb Sweeping Festival, a public holiday that turns the famous karst mountain town into a bustling sea of people. She explores the pedestrian street, remarking on how it's one of the most English-friendly places in China, yet still challenging without Mandarin. Surprising discoveries include a Dairy Queen with entirely different flavors like matcha mochi and pistachio, and the local specialty osmanthus flower ice cream, which she describes as tasting like a flowery peach. She also encounters robot ducks, sketch artists, and an overwhelming nightclub atmosphere. A key moment is her discovery of sour fruit snacks and bamboo chicken soup, local dishes she tries to understand. Alina discusses the aggressive yet effective massages in China, noting they're painful but good, and contrasts the culture of filming freely in China versus Japan. The language barrier remains her biggest challenge, relying on Google Translate and Alipay to get by. The live stream captures the authentic sensory overload of Yangshuo at night, a blend of traditional and modern Chinese culture.

I'm still sticking to my main two of ni hao and xie xie. It's such an overwhelming language to learn.
Do you feel awkward to vlog in public?
Absolutely sometimes. But live streaming is easier because it feels less crazy. China is the easiest place to film because locals are totally cool with it.
Did you get your flight home sorted?
Yes, I did. I'll be leaving in about a week and a half with Air Serbia.
What were the massages like in China?
They are very aggressive and almost painful but really good. They really push on blood vessels and knots.
