Kameilong begins with a delightful lamb dinner at a surprisingly quiet restaurant, sampling various dishes and sharing his enthusiastic reactions to the flavors and textures. The meal includes a rack of lamb, ribbon noodles with lamb, egg with desert onion, and a unique pulled noodle dish.
Unexpectedly, a migraine forces a change of plans, leading Kameilong and his companion to a captivating fire show instead. The show, despite ending earlier than expected, is described as incredibly cool, and the surrounding festival grounds, though empty due to the off-season, are showcased in their neon-lit beauty.
The exploration continues into the heart of Dunhuang's downtown, where they encounter a market and almost miss out on trying beef pancakes due to closing times. They discover a unique deer statue, a souvenir from Cave 257, representing a nine-colored deer from local mythology. More food adventures follow, including a memorable experience with freshly fried, inexpensive sweet pancakes.
