Our Travel Journal, a German-Turkish family of five, continued their Chinese adventure after exploring Beijing's historical and technological wonders. Their journey led them to Zhangjiajie, a region that inspired the movie Avatar, known for its stunning floating mountains and misty landscapes. The family's experience began with a smooth and surprisingly efficient online connection, even in remote areas, thanks to a reliable mobile service. Their arrival in Zhangjiajie was marked by a warm welcome, despite the initially humid and sticky environment, which was a stark contrast to the cities they had previously visited. They navigated bustling streets and unique local eateries, sampling unfamiliar dishes and experiencing the vibrant culture. The trip to Zhangjiajie National Park presented its own set of challenges. Heavy rain and large crowds tested their patience as they waited in lines for shuttle buses and cable cars. Alpai, one of the family members, faced his fear of heights while riding the cable car, a moment of vulnerability shared with the viewers. Despite the weather and crowds, the family persevered, eventually reaching the top of Tianzi Mountain, where they witnessed breathtaking views once the clouds parted. The unexpected discovery of a McDonald's at the top of the mountain provided a humorous and much-needed respite. Their stay at the YOLO Resort, nestled in a tea plantation, offered a tranquil retreat, allowing them to appreciate the serene beauty of the surroundings. The family concluded their time in Zhangjiajie with a memorable sunset view from a private scenic spot at their hotel. Throughout their journey, the family demonstrated adaptability and a positive attitude, embracing both the challenges and rewards of exploring a new and diverse landscape. Their experiences highlight the importance of staying connected while traveling, the beauty of unexpected discoveries, and the strength of family bonds in the face of adventure. The video showcases the unique aspects of Zhangjiajie, offering a glimpse into the raw beauty of nature and the rich cultural experiences of China. The family's willingness to share their vulnerabilities and humorous moments makes their journey relatable and engaging.
Our Travel Journal family's China adventure takes an unexpected turn from the bustling modernity of Beijing to the breathtaking natural landscapes of Zhangjiajie. Inspired by the movie Avatar, Zhangjiajie National Park's floating mountains and misty cliffs offer a dramatic contrast. Despite initial challenges with weather and crowds, their journey is filled with unique moments, from navigating airport logistics to savoring local cuisine. The family's experience highlights the beauty of Zhangjiajie, the resilience of their travel spirit, and the unexpected joy found in a McDonald's amidst a misty mountaintop.

Surprisingly good! Even way out in the national park, everything worked instantly. We were able to use our apps without any issues.
What was the food like in Zhangjiajie?
It was different than in Beijing and Shanghai! Some things were a bit unknown, but the people were warm and welcoming. We found a cute restaurant where we all found something we liked.
What was the weather like during your visit?
It rained a lot! We had tropical-style monsoon rain, but the sun came out later. It was very humid and sticky.
What was the most memorable part of your trip?
Probably the cable car ride up Tianzi Mountain, even though Alpai was scared of heights! And finding a McDonald's at the top of the mountain was pretty funny.
What advice would you give to others visiting Zhangjiajie?
Be prepared for crowds and queues. Pack rain gear! And if you're scared of heights, the cable car might be a challenge, but the view is worth it when the clouds clear!
