You need a special police travel pass, which I got from the police station in Kashgar.
Is Baisha Lake crowded with tourists?
Yes, it's a very popular spot on Chinese social media. There were hundreds of people and it was almost impossible to take a simple photo.
Can I swim in Karakul Lake?
The water is clear and the temperature is perfect, but swimming is absolutely not allowed. They would probably jail me!
Can I fly a drone in Xinjiang?
No, not as a foreigner. To register a drone you need a Chinese ID, so I couldn't fly mine anywhere in the province.
What was the most surprising thing about traveling in Xinjiang?
The fact that China has only one time zone even though the sun doesn't set until after 10 PM in Kashgar, it's really crazy.
