My auntie made lots of Lucai, braised meat, tofu, duck, pork, chicken, and intestines! It was very traditional, although some of it was a bit unusual for me. And the stinky fish was definitely interesting!
What was the most surprising thing that happened?
Probably how welcoming the neighbors were! They shared food with us, even though they didn't know us well. It was a really nice experience.
What did you learn about the local culture?
I learned a lot about the importance of family and community during the New Year. Everyone was so busy preparing and celebrating together. And the traditions, like pasting red couplets and setting off fireworks, were really fascinating.
