Today, we tell you a secret... the reason why we stopped making videos about China...
This video offers a candid explanation from Nico and his partner for their recent hiatus from creating content about China. The couple reveals that their decision wasn't solely their own, but a mixture of business and personal factors, including a three-and-a-half-year separation from their families. Initially, they planned to return to China regularly, creating content and balancing it with time in the UK. However, unforeseen circumstances impacted their plans. They detail how their YouTube channel, despite years of dedication and hundreds of videos produced, never became a full-time source of income. To fund their passion project, they took on commercial projects and freelance work in China, reinvesting profits back into their YouTube channel. Unfortunately, a recent economic downturn led to the cancellation of several projects in China, disrupting their planned return in the autumn. They explain their recent ventures: a wedding videography business and a comprehensive China travel planning platform. The wedding business, though initially slow, is now thriving with bookings extending into 2026, offering the financial stability they lacked as freelancers. The travel platform is designed to cater to independent travelers seeking unique experiences and assistance in planning their China trips. Nico's platform offers custom itinerary planning, encompassing flights, accommodation, and daily itineraries. They also discuss the challenges faced by independent travelers navigating China without speaking Chinese. Their platform provides options for independent travelers, including recommendations for smaller group tours that offer unique experiences. They express their intention to return to China in the spring, hoping to reconnect with their audience and continue creating engaging content. The video concludes with an announcement of a one-off special episode with an exciting project, leaving viewers in anticipation.
