Alina Mcleod's Shenzhen live stream begins with a technical hiccup that drops many viewers, but she quickly regroups and navigates the city's futuristic elevated walkways and gleaming malls. She admires the incredible architecture and skyscrapers, noting Shenzhen's rapid growth. A highlight is her visit to a local foot spa where she experiences a unique pedicure that literally shaves dead skin off her feet, leaving them feeling baby smooth. She discusses the prevalence of QR code payments for street performers, budget-friendly drink prices (coffee for $2-3 USD), and the shockingly affordable electric cars like the Xiaomi SU7, which cost around 20-30k USD. Alina also points out the Tencent headquarters, the company behind WeChat, and notes how Asian sizing makes clothes shopping challenging for her. She ends the stream by joking about the localized menus at Western chains like Subway and Pizza Hut in China.
Alina Mcleod live streams from Shenzhen after a technical glitch drops half her audience. She navigates futuristic skyways and high-end malls, highlighting the city's advanced tech, affordable luxuries, and quirky contrasts. From a razor-sharp pedicure that shaves off dead skin to spotting Xiaomi's race-car-inspired SU7 for half the price of a Western EV, she uncovers a city where $25 hour-long massages are normal and drone deliveries are already a reality. The summary captures Shenzhen's high-tech hustle through Alina's surprised laughs and lost-in-translation moments.
After a live-stream glitch, Alina explores Shenzhen's futuristic malls, budgets $25 massages, and discovers Xiaomi electric cars half the price of Western EVs.

They literally shave dead skin off your feet with a safe razor. It leaves your feet baby smooth and is much more effective than a pumice stone.
How much do drinks cost in Shenzhen?
Coffee at a nicer place is about $3 USD, Luckin Coffee is $2. Alcoholic drinks are $3-5, and bubble tea is under $4. Very budget-friendly.
Is it easy to buy clothes in Shenzhen as a foreigner?
No, Asian sizing runs small. At 5'7 and average build, I found sleeves and pants too short. Lululemon is also more expensive here than in Canada.
