What was the food like?
Some dishes were surprisingly spicy, but I really enjoyed the rice noodle soup. The steamed bread-like treat was interesting, too, though a bit sweet and pickled-smelling.
How safe did you feel traveling in this part of China?
I felt safe the entire time. Even at midnight in Shenzhen, I saw lots of young women walking and biking alone, which is a good indicator of safety.
