OUR FIRST TIME IN HONG KONG (it blew our minds!) 🇭🇰
Hong Kong Exploration: City Walk, Peak Views & Culinary Delights
JetLag Warriors explored Hong Kong's vibrant mix of modern cityscapes and traditional markets, leaving with unforgettable memories of delicious food and breathtaking views.
Our First time in Hong Kong! Hong Kong is a special administrative region of China. We walked our way from Avenue of Stars overlooking Victoria Harbour, all the way to a traditional market called the Ladies Market in Kowloon. Then we took the subway to go to Hong Kong Island, and to Victoria Peak. We knew that Hong Kong is a concrete jungle, with the most skyscrapers in the world. But we did not expect it to be so green! we were pleasantly surprised by the view from The Peak. We also tasted some popular food from Hong Kong like pineapple bun, egg tarts, and even went to a Michelin star restaurant for some wonton noodle. Check out our first impressions of Hong Kong. We ate at Tsim Chai Kee Restaurant (Michelin Star)

This Hong Kong travel vlog by JetLag Warriors offers a fresh perspective on the city, exceeding their initial expectations. Their journey began at the Avenue of Stars, with its iconic Bruce Lee statue and handprints of Jet Li and Jackie Chan. The initial walk along the harbor showcased Hong Kong's modern architecture and surprising cleanliness, despite its high population density. The crystal-clear harbor water was a pleasant surprise.
JetLag Warriors then navigated the busy city streets of Kowloon, experiencing the dense foot traffic and multicultural atmosphere. They noted the unique use of bamboo scaffolding on skyscrapers, a testament to Hong Kong's blend of old and new. They sampled local delicacies like pineapple buns and egg tarts, offering honest reviews. The pineapple bun, while affordable, was deemed unremarkable, whereas the egg tart received high praise.
Their exploration continued with a ride on the Hong Kong Metro, which they compared to Toronto's subway system, noting its cleanliness and efficiency. The journey to Hong Kong Island provided a striking contrast between the bustling city and unexpected pockets of greenery. The ride up to Victoria Peak via the Peak Tram, while crowded and expensive, offered spectacular panoramic views of the city's unique blend of skyscrapers and natural landscapes.
The hike down from Victoria Peak provided a different perspective, revealing the city's many green spaces and islands. A chance encounter with a wild boar added an unexpected element of excitement. The trip concluded with a Michelin-starred wonton noodle dinner, offering a delicious end to their adventure. JetLag Warriors shared their five key observations about Hong Kong: the prevalence of well-cared-for dogs, the exceptional queuing skills of locals, the pleasant weather, the fitness levels of the locals who regularly exercise on the hills, and their overall positive impression of the city's unique blend of East and West. It was just regular bread with sugar on top that tasted a little bit like pineapple. Nothing special.
What was your Michelin star experience like?
The wonton noodles were good, especially the broth and wontons, but the noodles themselves were unremarkable. It was good, but maybe not worth the Michelin star hype.
What was the most surprising thing you found in Hong Kong?
Probably the combination of modern skyscrapers and unexpected green spaces, and how clean the city was despite its high population density.
